    That is onomatopoeia for the sound drums used after a bad one line joke. Many comedians would perform at clubs where there were also bands playing. The comedian and the band would take turns performing throughout the evening. When the comedian would say the punch line of his joke the drummer in the band would play "BA DUM TISS". You might even hear people use it today to show when they think something is a bit cheesy.
