FRUIT

The craft for playschool last time was a giant fruit basket.
Have a look, isn't it AWESOME?
Each kid picked a couple of fruits and colored them in.
Then we cut them out and stuck them on the basket poster.

January 26th is Australia Day!!

This week in playschool we are celebrating Australia Day! It is celebrated annually on January 26th to commemorate the arrival of the First Fleet of ships that sailed from Great Britain to establish the first European colony in Australia.

Below is a famous nursery rhyme that comes from Australia.
It is about the Kookaburra (an Australian Kingfisher).

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Merry merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Eating all the gum drops he can see
Stop, Kookaburra! Stop, Kookaburra!
Leave some there for me.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Counting all the monkeys he can see
Stop, Kookaburra! Stop, Kookaburra!
That's not a monkey that's me.

*This is a slower version of the song.

Hinamatsuri

Happy Girls' Day! The translation literally means 'Doll Festival'. As you can probably guess I am not really sure what Girls' Day means. If you could please comment and teach me a bit of your culture it would be really appreciated :)

This week in our playschool class we are having a fun and games day. We will also be making a Girls' Day craft and talking about what the day means in Japan. Thanks for all your help.

Fall is coming!

As you have probably noticed it is much cooler now and slowly but surely the leaves are starting to change color. This week in playschool we are going to discuss fall and changing seasons. Besides making leaves for our playschool classroom tree and a fall mobile to take home, we will also play a super awesome falling, falling game to see what's falling!?! It is very exciting.
