I saw the new Godzilla over the holidays. I thought I should try it at the cinema because you probably need to see it on the big screen to get the full impact. Well... it was OK. Godzilla looked good, the fights were cool and the tension was nicely done. However you don't get to see the big man for the first hour of the movie and it is a bit too Hollywood (I would have liked to have seen more Japanese people involved in the creation, as it is a quintessentially Japanese concept).
Not as bad as the last one, but not super awesome. Check it out if you are a kaiju fan. Otherwise don't worry about it.

  1. Thanks for sharing it. Because I did't see any movies during obon, it was good to hear something about movies. Anyway you wrote "the tension was nicely done". What's this mean?

  2. What I meant by "the tension was nicely done" was that the movie builds slowly but well. You don't get to see Godzilla for a long time (1 hour) but you know he is coming. It is not super exciting action the whole time, but it doesn't get too boring. You always feel something is just around the corner. Kind creepy.
