Redundancy (tautology) is the unnecessary repetition of words that effectively have the same meaning. For example, "free gift". As a gift is by definition always free, it is not necessary to say "free" gift. In the above post, the word "eliminate" and the phrasal verb "stamp out" have the same meaning.
